Peter Alexander Barzey, was born in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic of British origin. He took an interest to music at a very young age where he took lessons at the Music Academy in San Pedro de
Macoris and started playing clarinet and classical music with
saxophonist and composer, Papo Ross. Two years later he continued his musical studies at the National Conservatory of Music in Santo Domingo. In 1989, he moved to the island of Montserrat and later, to Montreal Canada in 1993 where he has perfected himself as a percussionist playing such instruments as tambora, timbales, bongos, guira and congas. He has performed with many groups in Canada, including Papo Ross and Orquesta Pambiche, Tropic Band, Stofa Band, Joaquin Diaz, Miguel Fenton and Palo Adentro, Freddy Anthony and Bachata, Ramon Tambora, Latin Power, La Sonora Latina, and in the United States with Alejandro Torrens & Grupo Sabor in Burlington, Vermont.
